About the Journal
Travesía is a biannual journal dedicated to Latin American economic and social history. It was founded in 1998 by a group of researchers who shared the conviction that history, as an intellectual endeavor, should not be constrained by any orthodoxy or by rigid theoretical or methodological principles; and that economic processes and institutions cannot be understood in isolation from “the inextricable relationships between economic fluctuations and social, political, and cultural developments,” in the words of Carlo Cipolla. Since its inception, the Advisory Board has included M. Moreno Fraginals, T. Szmerecsányi, C. Sempat Assadourian, J. Fontana, G. Levi, R. Fradkin, C. Marichal, E. Tandeter, R. Pastor, D. Guy, M. Cerutti, J. C. Garavaglia, M. Murmis, P. Pérez Herrero, M. Rapoport, and N. Manrique. Subsequently, J. Arruda, V. Ferlini, J. A. Piqueras, J. Pinto Vallejos, A. Regalsky, and Ch. Walker joined the board. In addition to Latin American historians, Travesía has published contributions by scholars from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the United States, and Canada. The journal covers a wide range of topics, including regional economies, agro-industries, agrarian history, social issues, labor and social movements, business history, associationalism, women's history and feminism, industrial history and heritage, consumer history, among others. Submissions must be original and unpublished, and may be written in Spanish, Portuguese, English, or French. After an initial review by the Editorial Board, all submissions are subject to double-blind peer review by external experts. Articles and book reviews are accepted year-round and may be submitted via email to travesia@ct.unt.edu.ar or through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
